CORDYCEPS
“The Legend”
Cordyceps is one of the most amazing creatures on Earth. Apart from anything else, its life-cycle in the wild and how it grows and develops has even led it to be named “the zombie mind control fungus”! David Attenborough has made a television program about this incredible fungus!
Apart from the incredible way it develops in the wild it has a history of use by humans stretching back millennia. It is for example, one of the primary tonic herbs of the Chinese system of medicine, being famed for its restorative, energising and aphrodisiac effects! As with the other mushrooms the main active components are the immune stimulating betaglucans.
The history of this fungus is based on its close cousin Cordyceps sinensis, which grows mainly on the Tibetan Plataeu at 3000m to 5000m above sea level. Because of its limited range it has become quite rare and over harvesting has hastened its decline. Collection of this fungus is the single biggest earner for the population in the area and wars have been fought over the supply, with the majority sent to China for enormous sums of money. The other problem with Cordyceps sinensis is that it can not be brought to fruition when under human cultivation and the only products available are made from the mycelia, often with portions of substrate, rather than the whole fruiting body. However, the good news is that Cordyceps militaris is much easier to cultivate and contains more of the active constituents than Cordyceps sinensis. Our Cordyceps militaris is grown on wheat and rice and whole fruiting bodies are used in our glycerite.
So, power up your immune system and energy levels with this legendary fungus.
